1899345 - Error "ISQL Error : Syntax error near ';' at line Y, column X." using Interactive SQL (dbisql) - SQL Anywhere

Symptom

I am unable to execute a SQL script file using Interactive SQL. Even a single statement cannot be executed if a semicolon is at the end of the line. Error message looks like:

ISQL Error : Syntax error near ';' at line1, column 56.
