1899661 - Oracle instance is not up after starting the Service in Windows

Symptom

You start the Windows service OracleService<SID> but the database is still down.

C:\Documents and Settings\<sid>adm>sqlplus / as sysdba

SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.4.0 Production on Tue Aug 01 14:52:36 2015

Copyright (c) 1982, 2010, Oracle.  All rights reserved.

Connected to an idle instance.

If you connect to SQL*Plus as sysdba you see the database instance is idle. If you issue startup command, the database will start normally.

SQL> startup
ORACLE instance started.

Total System Global Area 1185927168 bytes
Fixed Size                  2227744 bytes
Variable Size             603980256 bytes
Database Buffers          570425344 bytes
Redo Buffers                9293824 bytes
Database mounted.
Database opened.
