1899981 - Cannot connect to Information Steward repository using the Oracle SERVICE_NAME - Information Steward

Symptom

  • Cannot connect using the SERVICE_NAME when running the ISRepositoryUtility.
  • Connection works fine when using the SID.
  • Error:  "Connected to the Information Steward repository at
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:port:provided SERVICE_NAME. (COR-10017)
    Started execution on datetime. (COR-10014)
    Utility processing starts.
    Listener refused the connection with the following error:
    ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
    java.sql.SQLException: Listener refused the connection with the following error:
    ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor"
