1901386 - ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified", when trying to connect to Oracle through DCO

Symptom

  • Error message is raised when trying to connect to ECDA DCO (Direct Connect to Oracle)

  % isql -SDCO_Oracle_SRV –U< user> -P< pword>
  Msg 12154, Level 16, State 0: Server 'DCO_Oracle_SRV':
  ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
  CT-LIBRARY error: ct_connect(): protocol specific layer: external error: The attempt to connect to the server failed.

  • The Oracle SID changed, and therefore corresponding modifications were made in the Oracle tnsnames.ora file and the Sybase DirectConnect for Oracle configuration file.

  • Oracle 11x on HO Itanim

This is a generic issue and could happen on most versions and platforms.
