1903030 - Get 'bad magic number' when load database into older version - ASE

Symptom

  • Loading an ASE 15.7 or ASE 16.0 database dump into earlier version
  • Results in Backup Server errors including:

    Backup Server: 6.35.2.2: Volume validation error: bad magic number m, expected USTH.
    Backup Server: 6.32.2.3: 'path/filename': volume not valid or not requested (server: , session id: 5.)
    Backup Server: 1.14.2.4: Unrecoverable I/O or volume error. This DUMP or LOAD session must exit.

  • The client will recieve message 

    Msg 8009, Level 16, State 1:
    Server 'server_name', Line 1:
    Error encountered by Backup Server. Please refer to Backup Server messages for details.
