1904119 - Database dump to remote backup server fails with Msg 8009, Level 16, State 1 - SAP ASE

Symptom

When dumping a database to a remote backup server where the local and remote backup server have the same name in the interfaces file, the dump fails with the errors below.

1>dump database <database name> to "/sybase/backup/<dump name>.dmp" at <backup server name>
2>go

Backup Server session id is: 51. Use this value when executing the
'sp_volchanged' system stored procedure after fulfilling any volume change
request from the Backup Server.
Backup Server: x.xx.x.x: Invalid RPC sequence at RPC as_cmd.
Backup Server: x.xx.x.x: RPC ('as_cmd') execution failed.
