1909651 - Error 103 identifier name is too long when creating table using old client - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Connecting pre-15.0 client to ASE 15.5 or 15.7 
  • 'create table' will fail if the table name or column name exceeds 30 characters

Msg 103, Level 15, State 205:
Server 'ase', Line 2:
The identifier that starts with '<long identifier name>' is too long.
