Symptom
After configuring the latest version of SAP BI Mobile App (v 5.x) with BI4 Platform and configured for external access using an Apache Reverse proxy web server, SAP BI access fails with session errors.
- Users get the below error when trying to login to the session
- Session timeout Session has expired. Log in Again to open the document (MOB02003)
- The behavior is as if the user is logged and the error shows up on the category list page
- In CMC, you can see that the user session gets created - but the same is not persisted on the mobile app
- Apache server is in the DMZ while BI4 server and Application server (Tomcat) are internal
- Apache server port is opened in external firewall - while tomcat server port and all BI4 application requests ports (bidirectional) are opened in the Internal firewall in a port range
- Tomcat was configured to use both the default http port 8080 and a proxy port 8082, both ports being opened in the internal firewall
- The Issue occurs ONLY from SAP BI Client, whereas accessing the version check URL from a Safari Browser works
Eg: MOBI Server version: http://<WebAppServerWithMobileWar:port>/MobileBIService/MessageHandlerServlet?message=GetVersion - After configuring CMC to work with the Reverse proxy as well, Using Safari Web Browser, CMC can be logged into and documents viewed without issues, but problem persists on SAP BI App
