Symptom

  • ASE 15.7 shrink database feature can cause a subsequent recovery failure of that database upon reboot of the ASE server
  • A message will be printed in the ASE errorlog upon restart, mentioning that the object descriptor of object {N} cannot be installed. {N} may be 1, 2, or 28.

Error: 952, Severity: 20, State: 9
Database 'my_db' cannot be opened because the system index descriptor for table ID 2 cannot be installed.
