1922036 - How to Revert an Org Unit Deletion in the Planning Area of an Organizational Structure

You are trying to activate an org structure, but error messages point to an org unit that cannot be relevant. You would like to understand how to revert the org unit's deletion in the Planning Area of the Organizational Management work center.

When you try to check or activate an org. structure hierarchy, system is throwing error messages such as the ones below:

Cannot delete profit center XYZ (); postings exist in accounting.
Cannot delete cost center XYZ (); cost center is used by financial accounting.
(Where XYZ represents an actual org. unit ID)

You might be aware of the steps to resolve the issue, but in the Planning Area, you are not able to find the org. unit XYZ whose deletion needs to be reverted.

First of all, you should confirm whether the org. unit was deleted or is simply delimited. There are two ways to identify it, they are:

Option 1:

1. Go to the Organizational Management work center.
2. Access the Org Structures work center view.
3. Find and select the relevant org. unit.
4. Navigate to the Timelines tab.
5. Get the Valid From date.
6. Go to the Planning Area by clicking the Edit button.
7. Set the Effective From date to be the same as the Valid From date from the org. unit and click Go.
8. If you could find the org. unit, then its validity is delimited; if not, then it has been deleted.

Option 2:

1. Go to the Organizational Management work center.
2. Access the Org Structures work center view.
3. Find and select the relevant org. unit.
4. Navigate to the Changes tab and click Go.
• If all the parameters have changed to an empty value, then the org. unit was deleted.
• If the org. unit's validity was changed, then it is delimited.

So, how to revert in case the org. unit was deleted? The only option to bring back the deleted org. unit is to use the Roll Back feature.

Steps to be followed:

1. Go to the Organizational Management work center.
2. Access Edit Org Structures.
3. Click the Roll Back button.
4. A prompt will be raised, warning that performing a rollback means that all inactive changes will be undone and the org. structure in the Planning Area will be set back to its last active version.
5. Click Ok.

If you have any changes to other org. unit hierarchies not related to the one from which the relevant org. unit was deleted, then we suggest activating them using the Activate Selected and Dependent Org Units option before performing the rollback to restore the deleted org. unit.
