1923119 - How do you prevent the Web Intelligence Processing Server being stuck in the "Initializing" state on startup?

Symptom

  • On startup, a Web Intelligence Processing Server (WebIPS) remains in "Initializing" state for a long time and does not switch to the "Running" state.
  • During this "Initializing" state, the WebIPS is observed to scan the entire contents of its disk cache.
  • The disk cache for this WebIPS deployment is observed to be large, and it takes significant time for the WebIPS to scan its entire contents.
  • The WebIPS does not switch to "Running" state until this scan is complete.
  • How can I allow the WebIPS to become "Running" without needing for this scan to complete?
