1925271 - Why doesn't the 'select datachange()' value get set back to 0 (zero) after running 'update statistics <tablename>' in ASE ?

Symptom

  • There was no change seen in the datachange function result after executing the following:
    1. updating a column on a table
    2. select datachange ("tablename",null,null)
    3. running update statistics 
    4. select datachange ("tablename",null,null) 

  • Why doesn't the 'select datachange()' value get modified after running 'update statistics'?

  • The expectation was that the results of 'select datachange ("tablename",null,null)' immediately after executing 'update statistics' would be 0.
