1928596 - How to remove a defunct backup server process - SAP ASE


  • ASE Backup Server fails to start up with the following error:

 Backup Server: Configuring the maximum shared memory usage to 48 MB.
 Backup Server: Configuring the number of service threads to 48.
 Backup Server: Configuring the shared memory per stripe to 1048576 bytes.
 Open Server Error: 16240.10.0: Net-Library routine sybnet_listen() failed in srv__start_net
 Network error: status = 23 - Net-Lib protocol driver call to register a listener failed.
 Open Server Fatal Error: 16029.20.0: Failed to start any network listeners

  • Msg 304702, Level 2, State 1:

Backup Server: The Backup Server is undergoing shutdown. Your session will terminate immediately. Please reattempt connection later.

  • Msg 8009, Level 16, State 1:

Unable to dump the transaction log for the database 'SID' in the instance 'SID'.
Backup of database 'SID' was not successful.
