1930596 - SySAM: Invalid host on a VM - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When running ASE on a VM host
  • The license generated is not correct
  • ASE error log reports messages including :

SySAM: Invalid host. The hostid of this system does not match the hostid specified in the license file.
Unserved licenses can only be used on the host for which the license was generated.
If the license is intended for use on this machine then you need to check-in the license and regenerate it using the host id for this machine.
  • When having used the "sysamcap PARTITION" command to generate environment variable and hostid for the VM
  • ASE log messages include

SySAM: Licensing capacity set to PARTITION licensing. All ASE instances running on host_name (HOSTID=PARTITION-ID=0011aabb) will share licenses.
    License quantities are based on x logical processor(s), y core(s) in z chip(s).

SySAM: The HOSTID of the license prevents use when PARTITION capacity licensing is configured.
You need to re-generate the license at the Sybase Product
Download Center using the HOSTID reported by the 'sysamcap' utility.
