The Sybase IQ Agent enables Sybase Central to perform functions required to administer Sybase IQ servers.
Sybase IQ Agents on a given host require unique port numbers.
IQ Agent needs two ports.
1) IQ Agent Port
- default 1099 (which is used for communications between the Sybase IQ plug-in and Agent.)
2) RMI Port
- The other one is a dynamic one which gets invoked when the agent is started.
If you have a firewall between the client running Sybase Central and the host running IQ , the dynamic port will not be open causing the error message that you encounter.
