Symptom

  • You see errors with DBIF_SETG_SQL_ERROR, like this example:

      • Category Resource Shortage
        Runtime Errors DBIF_SETG_SQL_ERROR
        Date and Time <timestamp>

        Short text
        SQL error 12205 when accessing a table.

        What happened?
        Database Error Text: "[ASE Error SQL12205]Could not acquire a lock within the
        specified wait period. SERVER level wait period=1800 seconds, spid=.., lock
        type=shared row, dbid=.., objid=..., pageno=..., rowno=.... Aborting
        the transaction. "

  • On the ASE error log you can see the same message reported for Msg 12205.
