Symptom
- The 'number of user connections' ASE configuration parameter seems to be set high enough.
- However, sometimes the available user connections are exhausted.
- The following message is reported in the ASE errorlog:
Error 1601: There are not enough 'user connections' available to start a new process.
- The number of user connection goes up, as soon as the transaction log is almost 100% in use.
- Even when the transaction log is dumped and the log free is again 99% or more, the number of user connections will stay at a high level causing problems like Error 1601.
For example:
processes: 61, log free: 99.28%.
processes: 61, log free: 99.27%.
processes: 57, log free: 99.41%.
