How does the update rule in a complex table work?

The requirement is:

Within the complex table - Parts:

Field to use during rule function is the CT field Type.

Other attributes are ItemNum, LotNum, Location and MeterNum.

The rule is where Meter Number = LotNum then populate the ItemNum

User has created the following rule in the update rule in Type field:

ComplexTable

- Parts

- Currentscreenset>Currentscreen>MeterNum

- Lotnum

- ItemNum

and cascade parent rule for this is set to: CurrentScreenset>Currentscreen>Type>Lotnum.

The rule is not working as expected and user needs to understand how to set it up to work correctly.
