1951436 - How to use OLAP Feature 'Constant Selection' instead of Operators such as SUMCT or %CT

Symptom

Operators such as SUMCT or %CT are not showing the expected results (the following can be applied to SUMGT, SUMRT, %GT, %RT operators as well).

Symptom 1)
Results for a certain value combination in detail rows change with different navigations steps

Running a query in transaction RSRT:

In the above graphic, you can see that the market share of region 'DE/BAY' in year 2010 is 38%. Now, if we just swap the 2 characteristics 'Calendar Year' and 'ZREGION', all of a sudden the result is different and the market share for the same region is 33% as the subtotal result changes in this grouping.

This is not a bug. The SUMCT etc. functions are calculated based on the displayed data. If you need to use navigations such as drilldown, different filterings etc, then the use of these functions might lead to unexpected results.

Symptom 2)
Different data for a SUMCT column when using the query in APD or in an MDX Statement

Certain interfaces such as MDX, RSCRM (used in APD) do not support so called list calculations or functions such as SUMCT, %CT etc. In addition, when the query is used as a basis for a QueryProvider (see Query as InfoProvider (QPROV)) formula operators such as SUMCT and SUMGT can also not be used. Henec, if required you need to change the query design in order to realize the expected scenario (one sample resolution is presented below).
