1951503 - How to Know Distributed Employment Is Enabled/Disabled in SAP Cloud for Travel and Expense

Symptom

Your SAP Cloud for Travel and Expense system is integrated with SAP ERP system. You want to know what the feature Distributed Employment means and how to see if it is enabled or disabled in the system.

Cause

Distributed Employment is introduced mainly for employee transfer among company codes within the same company in SAP ERP system. Without distributed employment you only can have one employment per employee and company. With distributed employment for every company code change and every personnel number change of an employee a new employment is created for him/her. When distributed employment is enabled in your SAP Cloud for Travel and Expense system, besides a unique Employee ID assigned to the replicated employee, one or multiple Personnel Number with the correponding company code in different validity periods can be assigned to the employee. The Personnel Number of the employee can be different from the Employee ID. You can see these as follows:

  1. Go to the Master Data Replication work center.
  2. Select the Employees view under Display.
  3. Select one employee and the View button.
  4. In the General tab and the General Employment Data pane, you can see the Personnel Number and Company Code in the lines.

Resolution

You can see if the Distributed Employment is enabled in your system as follows:

  1. Go to the Master Data Replication work center.
  2. Select the Manual Replication view under Import.
  3. If the link Employees (old version) does not appear, then the Distributed Employment is enabled. If there is the link Employees (old version), the Distributed Employment is disabled in the system.

If your SAP Cloud for Travel and Expense system is integrated with SAP ERP system, the Distributed Employment is enabled by default from the beginning. Generally this setting should not be changed. If you really want to disable the Distributed Employment for special consideration, please create an case, tell SAP support the reason why you want to disable the Distributed Employment and grant SAP the permission for the manual backend data change.
