Symptom

On creating New Sales Order with reference to the Contract ,the warning message:Net value of product PQR exceeds the limit set in contract ABC is triggered.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales Order work center.
  2. From the Common Tasks select the New Sales Order.
  3. In the New Sales Order screen click on the button Create with Reference.
  4. Enter the Reference Type as Contract and Reference ID as ABC(where ABC is the Contract Id) and click on the OK button.
  5. Go to the Items and for the Contract Item click on the button Check Contract Consistency.

You get warning message as : Net value of product PQR exceeds the limit set in contract ABC.

Cause

The reason for the warning , since their is no Target Amount maintained in the Contract ABC

Resolution

  1. Go to the Sales Order work center.
  2. Go to the Contracts view.
  3. In the Show field from drop-down select All Contracts and in the Find field enter ABC(where ABC is contract id).
  4. Edit the Contract and click on the View All button.
  5. Go to the General tab and the subtab Main Information.
  6. Under section Order Statistics and field Target Amount maintained the value and Save the Contract.

Now,if you create New Sales Order reference to this Contract which value less than Target Amount you will not get the warning message anymore.
