1953676 - Error: 'Failed to export the report', when exporting a report to Microsoft Excel (97-2003) Data-Only from Crystal Reports

Symptom

  • Error when exporting a report to MS Excel.
  • When attempting to export a report from Crystal Reports to Microsoft Excel (97-2003) Data-only, and selecting the export option: "Maintain relative object position", it generates the error: "Failed to export the report"

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open a report in Crystal Reports  designer.
  2. Click Export
  3. Choose Format: Microsoft Excel (97-2003) Data-only and click OK
  4. Choose Excel Format: Custom
  5. Check the option: Maintain relative object position
  6. Choose a location for the Export File and click OK
  7. Notice error "Failed to export the report."
