1955055 - Error: "A Communication error has occurred. Printing will be stopped" when printing from IE8

When attempting to print from Internet Explorer 8 or earlier, you get the error "A Communication error has occurred. Printing will be stopped". 

If you try to export, you are allowed to select the format, but you see the error: "Internet Explorer cannot download MyViewerPage.aspx from MyServer"

This issue only happens when using Internet Explorer 8 or earlier.  It does not happen when using Firefox, Internet Explorer 9, 10, or 11.

Performing a fiddler trace shows that the cache control setting for the aspx page is:
Cache-Control: no-cache
