1959370 - Dashboard Design 4.1 does not work correctly with imported excel sheet in Office 2013

Symptom

Multiple issues are encountered when using Dashboards Design 4.1 with Office 2013:

  • Once a component is added and mapped to data in the embedded spreadsheet; add new spreadsheet tab "+" gets disabled. Cannot Add/Delete any existing spreadsheet either.
  • Undo and redo options are grayed out.
  • When selecting a component’s property that has an excel reference, the mouse pointer does not automatically go to the corresponding cell in the Exel.

Environment

  • Dashboards Design 4.1 SP1.
  • Microsoft Office 2013 32bits.

Reproducing the Issue

Scenario 1:

  1. Import an excel spreadsheet in Dashboards Designer.
  2. Add a component on the canvas.
  3. Map the component to data in the embedded spreadsheet and.
  4. The add new spreadsheet tab "+" gets disabled. Cannot Add/Delete any existing spreadsheet either.

Scenario 2:

  1. Enter some date in a spreadsheet cell and hit enter.
  2. The undo and redo options in the excel spreadsheet gets grayed out.

Scenario 3:

  1. Import an excel sheet in Dashboards Designer.
  2. Insert a Chart on the canvas.
  3. Bind that to a range on the spreadsheet. Say A1:A10.
  4. Click on some other cell, say B20.
  5. Go back to the chart and click on the binding, it should automatically highlight A1:A10, but it goes to B20.

Resolution

  • The issue is resolved in BI4.1 SP05
