Symptom

Audit data is not written to the Audit database. Temporary files remain in the Auditing directory indefinitely.

In the Central Management Console > Auditing, the following error is posted:

"Audit data may remain in the server buffer"
-
Errors like the following are posted to (Windows) the Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application logs or (Unix / Linux) the messages file:
-
"The value <pathname> is too large for the audit database column Object_Folder_Path"
- where <pathname> = the complete BI folder path, totaling more than 255 characters
