1961505 - How to Block Only Partner Role of a Business Partner?

You have a Business Partner which has the roles Account and Sales & Service Partner. You would like to continue with the Account role and block the Sales & Service Partner role.

When you try to block the Partner role, it blocks the Account role as well as the complete Business Partner role. Hence, you would like to know, if there is a way to block only the specific role.

1. Go to the Account Management work center
2. Access the Partners work center view
3. Locate the relevant partner and select it.
4. Click the Change Status button, then select either Blocked or Obsolete.

Currently it is not possible to blocking/setting as Obsolete a single role of a business partner without the change affecting the business partner as a whole. This will be considered as a future requirement in one of the upcoming releases.

As a possible workaround, you can create an extension field called, for example, "Custom Status" in the General tab of the Partners screen and extend it to the OWL in the Partners work center view within the Account Management work center. You can then maintain status such as Active and Blocked, or Obsolete. Based on this status, you can filter the Partners using a custom query; however, the standard status will remain as Active, which means it will continue appearing in standard queries throughout the system that fetch Active partners.
