1961775 - Error 706: Process %d tried to remove PROC_HDR 0x%lx that it does not hold in Pss - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Received Error 706:
     
    Error: 706, Severity: 20, State: 3
    Process 2424 tried to remove PROC_HDR 0x1017601b800 that it does not hold in Pss.
     
  • This error was detected when a process attempted to create a lightweight procedure (LWP):
     
    SQL causing error : create procedure *ss0084073133_1342856568ss*(@@@V0_VCHAR1 VARCHAR(64))  as select c1 from db.dbo.t1 where c1 = @@@V0_
       
  • It was followed by a stacktrace that included modules:
     
       rm_prochdr
       memfree
       init_before_msg

     
  • Further errors such as 941 and 6103 may be reported in the ASE errorlog, for example:
     
    Error: 941, Severity: 20, State: 1
    Illegal database context operation.
     
    Error: 6103, Severity: 17, State: 1
    Unable to do cleanup for the killed process; received Msg 706.
