Symptom
You have created a calculated key figure, which uses a currency unit, and you notice that Currency Conversion, via the Display Currency, is not applied to the key figure if the key figure is used in the report.
The outcome is that the Key Figure currency unit stays as it is independently of the Display Currency selection.
Environment
- SAP Business ByDesign
- SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a Calculated Key Figure via the Business Analytics Work center via Design Key Figures view then New. In this example:
-
Step 1 (Define Key Figure and Select Data Source)
-
Key Figure Name: XYZ
-
Data Source Name: Sales Order Item
-
Key figure Type: Calculated Key Figure
-
Step 2 (Restrict/Calculate Key Figure)
-
Calculation Formula: "Net Value" / "Requested Quantity"
-
Step 3 (Properties)
-
Conversion Type: NONE
-
Step 4 & 5 (Review & Confirm)
- Review and Select Finish
- Add the custom Key Figure (XYZ) to the desired report. In this case, Sales Order Volume report.
- Change the Display Currency to the desired currency (e.g. EUR) and Click Go.
- The report does not update the currency of the custom Key Figure (XYZ), to the selected value, e.g. EUR, although it updates the one for the standard (SAP) Key Figures. NOTE: The expected Result is that the report shows the updated display currency as previous selected.
Cause
The Conversion Type was not defined for the custom key figure.
Resolution
To have the report to update the currency of the custom Key Figure as the standard one, to the Display Currency selected value, you need to define the Currency Conversion type from the Key Figure properties (Step 3) for the custom Key figure.
Note: If the Currency Conversion type is set as NONE the currency conversion cannot be applied to the key figure if the key figure is used in reports.
