1964674 - SAP BI4.1 WebIntelligence document content alignment for Right-to-Left (RTL) charactersets (Arabic, Hebrew) has changed in BI4.1 compared to XI3.x / BI4.0

Symptom

Behaviour of content alignment for newly created documents has changed.

  • In SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence 4.1 SP1/SP2, content alignment in newly created documents will be Right-to-Left (RTL) when the Preferred Viewing local (PVL) is set to Arabic or Hebrew (RTL languages).  In XI 3.1 / BI4.0 there is no RTL support and document content is always aligned from Left-to-Right (LTR)
  • This difference in behavior may cause confusion when a customer with XI 3.1 / BI4.0 deployment in English (or other LTR language), but with PVL settings in Hebrew or Arabic, upgrades to BI 4.1 SP1/SP2.  Documents created in BI 4.1 will have a different behavior than those created with XI 3.1 or BI4.0.

Note: In the Page and Quick Display viewing modes, reports retain the content alignment set at creation time, regardless of the PVL.
