1966766 - Teradata FastExport won't activate when there is a WHERE clause defined - Data Services

Symptom

  • Trying to do a FastExport from Teradata (bulk extract).
  • FastExport fails to activate when there is any WHERE clause defined.
  • If the WHERE clause is blank, DS activates FastExport and creates a tbuild file and Teradata starts sending data.
  • As soon as a WHERE clause on a DATE field is added to FastExport from Teradata, there is a warning thrown to the error log saying that FastExport could not be activated.
  • As a result, DS never creates a tbuild file and just starts reading from Teradata using normal transactional SQL (very slow). The warning is shown below.

  • RUN-054009: | Dataflow DF_SOME_DATAFLOW Warning:
  • Teradata FastExport interface for table is not
  • used because the table contains a LOB column or the SELECT statement
  • returns only one row.
