1968422 - Depreciation Calculated Automatically is Wrong for Migrated Fixed Asset: Closing Balance of Migrated Fixed Asset Balance is not Zero After Useful Life Periods

You have migrated a fixed asset, which has useful life of 2 years and the depreciation is started in 01.01.2011 for instance and you expected the book values for 2013 closing balance to be zero, but you still see some pending depreciation balance.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Fixed Assets work center.
  2. Choose fixed asset XYZ and Edit.
  3. Navigate to Values tab.
  4. Select Book Values and Choose Fiscal Year 2013.

You notice that closing balance is still not zero and still has some asset value.

If you calculate the depreciation for the useful life for 24 periods, it is, for instance, 18568.00 but during migration of the asset we see the cumulated historic depreciation is done only for 20 periods with the value 15473.00.

Actual Asset Value 27852.00

Useful Periods 24.

Since the cumulated historic depreciation is not calculated completely, system shifted the remaining depreciation for 4 periods balance to the next year and the behavior is correct if you check the book value in the year 2014.
