1970536 - Employee IDs not in Sequence in Personnel Administration

Symptom

You as a HR administrator, observed that although the Employees are created in sequence, few Employee IDs are missing.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Personnel Administration work center.
  2. Select Employees view.

For Example:

In the above view, you can find Employees from 1 to 50 and then it starting from 55 and so on.

Cause

The reason why the Employee IDs are not assigned to any Employees and the Employees have a gap is as following:

You might have migrated the Employees initially with a particular range and then when you have migrated the Employee for the second time, you missed continuity of the Employees ID and started with another range.

Example: First Time migration Employee ID from 1 to 50 and second time migration 55 to 100. So if you now Hire a new Employee within the system with normal Hiring process (not with migration) and you have fine tuned internal number assignment for the number range for the Employee ID, the next hired Employee get the next number. I.e. 10

Resolution

So this is no error. This is the system behavior as designed. Hence, the Employee ID's which ever missed during the Migration are 'lost' and the ID's can't be used anymore by the normal standard functionality.
