Symptom
- Error is received from Crystal Reports for Enterprise when creating a new report against a BW query even if the BW query has default values assigned to the mandatory variables
- Error: 'The data source is invalid: <java.lang.ullPointerException’.Please contact the maintainer of the data source to solve the problem'
- WebI reports cannot be created using a BW query even if the BW query has default values assigned to the mandatory variables
Environment
- Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.0 SP6 and 4.1
- Web Intelligence (WebI) 4.0 SP6 and 4.1
- Business Intelligence (BI) 4.0 SP6 and BI 4.1
- BW 7.x
Reproducing the Issue
- From Crystal Reports for Enterprise, create a new report
- As a data location, select the OLAP connection pointing to a BW query with mandatory variables
Cause
The issue has been identified and tracked under problem report ADAPT01714734
Resolution
The product defect has been fixed in the following releases:
- BI 4.0 SP6 patch 6.12
- BI 4.0 SP 7 patch 7.9
- Bi 4.0 SP10
- BI 4.1 SP3 patch 3.3
- BI 4.1 SP4 patch 4.1
