Symptom
A Customer Contract is created for a specific Account, and later the Account information is changed in the same existing contract.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Sales Orders Work Center.
- Select the Contracts view.
- Select a contract and click Edit.
- Under the General tab, observe that an Account is maintained with a specific address.
- Change the account address after the contract has been created.
- Go to the Account Management Work Center.
- Select the Accounts view.
- Open the account maintained in the contract.
- Navigate to the Communication tab and open the Addresses sub-tab.
- Click Add Row, maintain the new account address, and select the Main checkbox.
- Save the changes.
- Reopen the existing contract.
The updated account address is not reflected in the existing contract.
Cause
Once the contract is saved, any changes made to the master data will not be updated in the existing contract.
Resolution
There is no functionality to update an open/existing contract with changes made to the master data.
This is an expected system behavior.
