Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Time Administration Work Center.
  2. Go to Reports View and select List subview.
  3. Select the Employee Times report: Weekly report (You can run any report which is created based on data source HCMTLMU01).
  4. In View section and click + to add fields to Row.
  5. Select Employee, Reporting Line Unit characteristic in rows.
  6. Click Go.
  7. Here you can see the Recorded Time displays as 0.00h in the Reports.

Cause

If the employee's Time Recording Method is set up as Positive Time Recording, the system compares planned hours against actual recorded hours to identify instances where an employee has worked too few or too many hours in a day. This information is reflected in the 'Recorded Time' field within the Employee Times report, and you may encounter this issue in such cases.

The Employee Times Reports only display Active and Approved hours. If the recorded hours are in an inactive or pending change status, they will not be shown in the Employee Times Reports.

When the employee's Time Recording Method is set to Exception-Based Time Recording, this Case Document is not applicable. In this method, on days when nothing is explicitly recorded in the timesheet, Scheduled hours are used to calculate and post actual hours worked.

Note: The recorded hours could be in an inactive status due to a number of reasons:

  1. The employee timesheet has not been released.
  2. The employee made some changes and saved them, but they haven't released the timesheet

For the two reasons mentioned above, please release the timesheet.

     3. An error message, 'Error Message: Labor resource assignment mandatory for project time confirmation on MM/DD/YYYY,' may occur when employees record time via a different Add-On screen, and approval is required. This error can affect the employee timesheet, causing the recorded hours to be in an inactive status under the Time Administration work center.

To resolve this issue, please refer to the KBA: 1961483 - Error Message "Labor Resource Assignment Mandatory for Project Time Confirmation on DD.MM.YYYY."

Resolution

The Employee Times reports only display hours that are in an active and approved status. If the recorded hours are in an inactive status, they will not be included in the report.
