1982098 - Job Scheduler Agent does not start on Windows with multiple network interfaces - SYB ASE

Symptom

  • On Windows, if you have configured multiple network interfaces e.g. both IPv4 and IPv6 on your box, Job Scheduler Agent (JSA) of SAP Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) may not start after logging below message on its errorlog:

 jamain  SYB_JSAGENT waiting for connection

  • ASE error log may report one of the messages at the same time:

Job Scheduler Task failed (re)connecting to its Agent (Bad file descriptor)
kernel -> JS: Failed to connect on socket.
