Symptom

  • A select query received the following messages while selecting data that should not have received data conversion error
  • Speculative execution message also reported

    I. 12/05 11:00:30. 0000631877 Exception Thrown from dfe_Cast.cxx:918, Err# 0, tid 19 origtid 19
    I. 12/05 11:00:30. 0000631877    O/S Err#: 0, ErrID: 9216 (df_Exception); SQLCode: -1001006, SQLState: 'QFA06', Severity: 14
    I. 12/05 11:00:30. 0000631877 [20515]: Data exception - data type conversion is not possible.
    I. 12/05 11:00:30. 0000631877 Exception thrown during speculative execution (Err# 0, ErrID: 9216, origtid 19) will be ignored
  • The select query also completed the execution and returned result
  • An example of the query: select convert(int,col1) from test_table where col1 is not null and col1 not in ('', '00000','0')
