1990949 - SUM: write access to transport directory ... denied

Symptom

  • During release upgrade/EHP installation/update executed by Software Update Manager (SUM) tool in an SUM  phase (e.g PREP_PRE_CHECK/INITPUT_PRE) the following  error message was reported:

    1 ETQ200 Executing actual phase 'PREP_PRE_CHECK/INITPUT_PRE'.
    1EETQ399 Last error code set is: Write access to directory \\hostname\sapmnt\trans\bin denied.
    or
    'No write access to directory D:\usr\sap\SMD\DVEBMGS00'
        
  •  After checking the permissions on the reported directory it shows, that  the <sid>adm and SAPService<SID> users have full permissions.
