1991497 - Error : Maintain username/password for VAT e-filing for company ABC

When you try to release the VAT return, you get the error : Maintain username/password for VAT e-filing for company ABC.

1. Go to Tax management work center.
2. Select the VAT Returns view.
3. Select the VAT return which you would like to release.
4. Click on Release.

You will get the error : Maintain username/password for VAT e-filing for company ABC.

In the business configuration Scoping, You have selected the question: "Do you use British tax file for periodic tax return?". Find this question by following below steps:

1. Go to Business configuration work center.
2. Select Implementation project view.
3. Select the project and click on Edit project scope.
4. Navigate to questions tab by clicking next.
5. Select Cash Flow Management.
6. Select Tax management.
7. Select Tax Filing.
8. On the right hand side, under the Group : Tax Filing - UK.

You can find that question : "Do you use British tax file for periodic tax return?" is selected.

Also in the Company Tax arrangement, Electronic Submission field is selected.

1. Go to Tax management work center.
2. Select company Tax arrangement view.
3. Select the respective line and click on Edit.
4. Select the company.
5. Go to tax return arrangements tab.
6. Select the Tax return arrangement ID.

In the details section, you can find that Electronic Submission checkbox is selected.

When you try to release the VAT return with the above setting, system tries to find the user name and password to submit the file to electronic filing facility for which system is unable to find the user name and password in the system.

You must enter the username and password that you obtained from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) when you registered for the electronic filing facility. This is a legal requirement in the UK.

To maintain username and password in the system, follow below steps.

1. Go to Business configuration work center.
2. Select Implementation project view.
3. Click on Open activity list.
4. Go to Fine tune tab.
5. Search for activity Tax Return Authentication Details - UK.
6. Click on Open.
7. Click on Add row.
8. Maintain the details and save the changes.

after you maintain username and password in the activity,

1. Go to Tax management work center.
2. Select the VAT Returns view.
3. Select the VAT return which you would like to release.
4. Click on Release.

You should be able to release the VAT return successfully.

If you wish to report the VAT return manually, or you are yet to receive username and password from the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), you should maintain dummy username and password in order to release VAT return.
