1996048 - Error -10709 when displaying alerts in HANA Studio

Symptom

Displaying alerts in HANA Studio (Administration -> Alerts) fails with error 10709. Additionally, the statisticsserver data collection does not work and the following errors are logged in the trace files of the statisticsserver:

exception 1: no.9002001 (StatisticsServerAsSQLClient/connection/OKAssurer.hpp:55)
SQLDBC error -10709: Connection failed (RTE:[89006] System call 'connect' failed, rc=111:Connection refused).

A simple test to connect to the host/port combination (hanahost / 39005) that is logged in the trace file via telnet also fails.

At the same time, the information returned by nslookup is not consistent with the configuration of /etc/hosts:

Non-authoritative answer:
