2002196 - Error -10760 'Memory allocation failed' when using the SQLDBC interface

Symptom

SQL statements that are executed using the SQLDBC client interface are failing with error -10760, 'Memory allocation failed'. The corresponding trace file contains the following entries:

***LOG BY2=>sql error -10760 performing OPC
***LOG BY0=>Memory allocation failed.
            SQL error -10760 occured: Memory allocation failed.
*** ERROR => ROLLBACK on connection 0 failed. rc=-10760
             SQLCODE    : -10760
             SQLERRTEXT : Memory allocation failed.

In many cases, actions performed by the R3load tool (in the context of transports or migrations) are aborting due to this error.

At the same time, high memory (heap) usage can be observed on the client host which is issueing the relevant statements respectively has started the R3load commands. It is important to note that the HANA database itself is not affected by any increase in memory consumption.

The HANA client used is below SP7 (< revision 70).
