2005211 - Using WORLD domain name in Oralce causes issues with SAP ME synonyms

Symptom

Possible symptoms:

  • ME CTC wizard “SAP ME Database Setup for Installation” fails with exception “ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified”;
  • ODS-related functionality fails with “ORA-00942: table or view does not exist”;
  • SAP BusinessObjects Reporting functionality with SAP ME Universe fails with “ORA-00942: table or view does not exist”.

Check DB link of WIP/ODS database whether its HOST field contains ".WORLD" at the end. If at the end it contains only a period (".") without "WORLD" after this period, it is normal and does not harm. Otherwise this is a root cause.
