2009194 - SYB: How to Capture Tabular Data Stream Protocol Traffic in SAP Netweaver Context


  • You are running SAP Netweaver / Business Suite on Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE)
  • You want to protocol the traffic between Client (AS ABAP and ODBC driver) and Server (Sybase ASE)
  • Devtraces and DBSL traces don't provide sufficient information

This KBA will guide you through the steps to capture Tabular Data Stream (TDS) Protocol traffic.

The TDS protocol is used to communicate between Client and Server, the Server being SAP ASE.

For non-Business Suite ASE installations, you can use RIBO to capture the TDS. This however cannot be done in the SAP Netweaver context.
