2009538 - SYSAM license is not valid if "GROUP" is at the beginning of a line - ASE

Symptom

  • ASE fails to checkout license key
  • The error log includes messages:

    SySAM: Using licenses from: /usr/sybase/SYSAM-2_0/licenses/license1.lic:/usr/sybase/SYSAM-2_0/licenses/license1_DR.lic
    SySAM: Failed to obtain license(s) for ASE_CORE feature from license file(s) or server(s).
    SySAM: SIGN= keyword required but missing from the license certificate.
    SySAM:  This is probably because the license is older than the application
    SySAM:  You need to obtain a SIGN= version of this license from your vendor.
    SySAM: License feature name:  ASE_CORE
    SySAM: Missing:       SIGN2=
    SySAM: FLEXnet Licensing error:-114,582
