2012877 - Cannot complete task XYZ-N; associated sales order item(s) not yet delivered

Symptom

While trying to change the multi customer project task or milestone status to complete the system throws an error message : "Cannot complete task XYZ-N; associated sales order item(s) not yet delivered".

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Project Management Work center.
  2. Go to Projects view.
  3. Go to Projects sub view.
  4. Search with Project ID XYZ .
  5. Choose Edit -> Project Plan button.
  6. Choose the Project Task or Milestone XYZ –N
  7. Try to change the status to Complete or Complete and Close.

System throws an error message: "Cannot complete task XYZ-N; associated sales order item(s) not yet delivered".

Cause

This is the expected system behavior because multi customer project task or milestone  XYZ-N is associated to the sales order or sales order items hence you are not allow to complete or close the project task or project milestone without finishing the delivery and the invoicing of the associated sales order.

If the Sales Order ABC is In Process/ In Preparation status you cannot complete or close the Project task or Milestone which are associated to Sales Order ABC.

Steps to check if there are any open Sales Order for the Project task or Milestone:

  1. Select the Project task or Milestone to be closed
  2. Navigate to Sales tracking tab
  3. Search for Project task or Milestone name 
  4. We can see the associated Sales order ABC and its respective status

Resolution

Kindly finish the delivery and the invoice then try to complete or close the project task or milestone.

To manually finish the delivery of the Sales Order at header level.

  1. Go to Sales Order work center.
  2. Go to Sales Order view.
  3. Search with Sales Order ID ABC.
  4. Select Edit Button.
  5. Select the Submit button
  6. Choose Complete Service Execution.

To manually finish the delivery of the Sales Order at Item Level,

  1. Go to Sales Order work center.
  2. Go to Sales Order view.
  3. Search with Sales Order ID ABC.
  4. Select Edit Button.
  5. Select the Line Item which delivery needs to be completed.
  6. Select Complete Service Execution.
