2013049 - Error 10330 State 1 "Permission denied " after SETUSER if user has been granted granular permission "OWN DATABASE" - SAP ASE for BS

Symptom

  • Accessing an object owned by another user returns Error 10330 despite having executed SETUSER

Example:

1> setuser 'SAPSR3DB'
2> go
1> select * from SAPSR3DB.SP_RESULTS
2> go
Msg 10330, Level 14, State 1:
Server 'SID', Line 1:
SELECT permission denied on object SP_RESULTS, database <SID>, owner SAPSR3DB

  • Granular permissions are enabled
  • User has been granted the OWN DATABASE permission
  • User has performed a SETUSER to the owner of the object
