2018668 - How to separate data and log in a mixed data and log segments - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • A database was defined with mixed log and data segments.
  • Mixing data and log segment on the same database device has the following limitations and it is not recommended for production database usage:
    • Cannot backup transaction only.
    • Cannot calculate free space clearly.
    • Cannot fully recover database from a data segment failure.
    • Segment will fill up more quickly when large transactions occur.
