JMeter can be used for testing in cases where concurrency may be the source of the problem. Two common issues involving concurrency are blocked threads in a program, or deadlocks in an underlying database. It can also be useful for saving time by automating multi-step actions that need to be run repeatedly.
Additionally, JMeter can be used in conjunction with other fully-featured profiling tools such as JProfiler or JVisualVM to get a more detailed view of performance of specific threads in an application.

The article/screenshots were created running on a Windows 7 with JMeter 2.9 and Hybris version 5.0.2; However JMeter is a cross-platform tool and the steps would apply equally to other environments.
