2019128 - Shortdump 'ASSERTION_FAILED' in upgrade phase 'MAIN_SHDRUN/PARDIST_SHD2'

Symptom

During an SAP upgrade using the SUM tool, the following short dump occurs in upgrade phase 'MAIN_SHDRUN/PARDIST_SHD2':

Short dump name: ASSERTION_FAILED

Coding the triggered the dump: CL_SHDB_HOSTS / _DETERMINE_HOSTS

Failed assert condition: ASSERT FIELDS lv_hint CONDITION ( lt_hosts IS NOT INITIAL ).

In addition, executing the following SQL statement does not return any rows when being executed with the SAP<SID>SHD user, but returns a valid result when being executed with the SYSTEM user:

SELECT HOST, PORT FROM M_SERVICES
WHERE SERVICE_NAME = 'indexserver'
AND COORDINATOR_TYPE = 'MASTER'
AND ACTIVE_STATUS = 'YES'
ORDER BY HOST
