Symptom
When creating a device for a tempdb database:
disk init
name = tempdb2_dat1,
physname = “/sybtmpfs/tempdb2_dat1”,
size = “15G”
go
Receive the message:
Attempt to set tmpfs file '/sybtmpfs/tempdb2_dat1' to Direct i/o mode failed, error: Inappropriate ioctl for device
The device does not support directio. '/sybtmpfs/tempdb2_dat1' will be activated using dsync instead of directio.
Initializing virtual device X, '/sybtmpfs/tempdb2_dat1' with dsync 'on'.
Virtual device X started using asynchronous i/o.
Initializing device /sybtmpfs/tempdb2_dat1 from offset 0 with zeros.
Finished initialization
